Brief History of Woollahra

For over 200 years, the suburb of Woollahra has captured the public’s attention and imagination.
A symbol of prosperity and wealth, Woollahra was an important commercial suburb with factories, a post office, a public school, shops and several bank branches.

This notable suburb also helped other eastern suburbs follow the same examplo, developing roads, improving trade and expanding public services and attracting new residents.

Due to its huge diversity of immigrants from different parts of the world, Woollahra has, in just a few years of existence, become the most attractive and fashionable place in the city, surrounded by artists, writers, fashion designers and politicians.

The spirit of pride, renewal and liberation has always been in the minds of the old Woollahra residents since the first settlers. Galleries, cinemas, theatres and pubs were frequent visitors from all walks of life.

 
Special events celebrating Australia Day and the Queen's Birthday have attracted important dignitaries and the entire Woollahra community.

 It is important to remember that Woollahra's main street, Queen St, was formerly called "Piper St" and was officially renamed in memory of Queen Victoria's birthday.

Facts and truths involving this elegant and charming suburb called Woollahra, which is surrounded by one of the oldest parks in Australia, Centennial Park 1888.

Its inauguration was attended by important city authorities and all the local residents of Woollahra which reforced identity of dwellers  to be proud for  living  one of  modern and  healthest  environmental suburb in the city in that time. 

 

Bon Trading & Woollahra

Bon Trading established its business at 12-14 Oxford St in Woollahra 50 years ago, selling Atomic Coffee machines and coffee products from the shop. We are proud to have served local residents for all these years and many more to come.
